In many ways, people with Alzheimer’s seem to behave like children. But it is not by choice. Because of the disease, they no longer know what they are doing – and they suffer greatly as a result. The psychiatrist Alois Alzheimer first made the link between changes in the brain and the gradual loss of memory.

In traffic, at a soccer game, or on the Internet – we encounter advertising messages everywhere. Can they seduce us without us noticing, and can our brains be influenced by neuromarketing?

Digitalization means we are writing less and less by hand – many schools are also increasingly switching to tablets and laptops for teaching. However, this development could have a negative impact on how we learn new things in the future. This is suggested by a study by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Botox can do more than just smooth out wrinkles on the face. It is now used by doctors as a remedy for excessive sweating or migraines. Researchers have discovered that the often controversial drug can also alleviate negative feelings and anxiety.

There are some bad habits that we would like to get rid of as quickly as possible. But why is this often so difficult? Why is our brain so attached to recurring behaviors and what can we do about it?

A survey conducted by Harvard University in the United States found that 44 percent of working adults say that their work affects their health. In Germany, Techniker Krankenkasse conducted a survey which revealed that 64 percent of Germans suffer from stress at least occasionally and 26 percent report that they suffer from stress frequently.

A pack of potato chips instead of a bowl of salad – a few hours on the couch instead of at the gym: we constantly break our resolutions and surrender to the commands of a very selfish brain. Yet, anyone can beat laziness. What slows us down, what keeps us going? How can we overcome the motivation killers in our heads?
